WMR 2021-2022 Team Registration Is Now OPEN!

WMR invites you to join the team! 21-22 Team Registration is Now Open! Register early and Save! West Mountain Racing Programs include:

  • WMR Academy--for U12-U19 advanced alpine racers only (we limit the number of qualified participants). All participants must use WMR as their Club affiliation beginning in 21-22. (Academy Brochure attached below). The U12 and U14 age divisions are on a waiting list. Please contact sara@westmountain.com for information.
  • Full WMR Club Program-- for alpine athletes U8-U19. All participants from MTN Council must use WMR as their Club affiliation beginning in 21-22. (WMR Brochure attached below)
  • Midweek WMR Club Program--for alpine athletes U8-U19 from out of council programs only beginning in 21-22. (registration opens May 1) (WMR Brochure Attached below)
  • Intro to Racing 6 Week Program (details below) (WMR Brochure Attached below)
  • Freestyle 6-Week Program (Registration opens Oct. 13)

WMR Program registration for 2021-2022 Season opens in March and Closes Nov. 1st. Register early and save. If you wish to join the team after Nov. 1st, please contact Program Director Sara Montgomery at sara@westmountain.com. A $200 late fee will be applied to all registrations after Nov. 1st. Discounts are not available after Nov. 1st. 

Intro to Race registration closes once 24 registrants have enrolled and it begins in January. No late fees apply to this program.

West Mountain Racing (Alpine) -- Academy-like training (5-6 days of training a week), travel and race tuning at reasonable rates. WMR welcomes FIS, USSA and HS Ski Team athletes to join our program. Rates and privledges apply to all members. We also offer our Intro to Race 6-week program for those interested in learning the basics of racing.

WMR Academy (U12-U19 Advanced Alpine Athletes) Membership 2021-22  

The WMR Academy is a competitive alpine travel team that is customized for U12- U19 advanced alpine ski racers only. WMR reserves the right to limit participation. All participants must use WMR as their Club affiliation beginning in 21-22. The WMR Academy includes:

  • Fall Dryland (Conditioning) Training 3-4 days a week (if registered for 2021-2022 program)
  • On-Snow Training at West 6 days a week (approx. 25.5 hours a week) Dec. – March Tues-Thursday 3:30pm-6pm, Friday's 10-3pm, and Saturday's and Sunday's from 8:30am-3pm. 
  • Christmas and February Break Training 8:30am-3pm on designated days
  • Locker in Team Room
  • Full Privilege Seasons Pass
  • Coaching support at NYSSRA and VARA races
  • WMR Team Coat

Camps and most out of state travel is separate. Multi-child families pay the full rate for the first child and receive 50% off each additional child. WMR Club Team Full Membership 2021/2022 (Alpine only)

WMR's Full Club Program is a competitive alpine racing team for athletes U8-U19 that travels (travel commitment varies per age group) and trains evenings during the week and during the day on weekends. All participants from Mtn Council must use WMR as their Club affiliation beginning in 21-22. Membership to the WMR Full Club Team includes:

  • Fall Dryland (Conditioning) Training 1 day a week (if registered for 2021-2022 program)
  • On-Snow Training at West 5 days a week (approx. 19 hours a week) Dec. – March Tues-Thursday 6-8pm, and Saturday's and Sunday's from 8:30am-3pm. 
  • Christmas and February Break Training 8:30am-3pm on designated days (schedule TBD)
  • Locker in Team Room
  • Full Privilege Seasons Pass
  • Coaching support at NYSSRA races 
  • WMR Team Coat

WMR Midweek Membership 2021/2022 (Alpine only for out of council athletes only)

West Mountain Racing's Midweek Only Membership for alpine athletes U8-U19 from out of council only includes:

  • Fall Dryland (Conditioning) Training 1 day a week (if registered for 2021-2022 program)
  • On-Snow Training at West 3 days a week (approx. 6 hours a week) Dec. – March Tues-Thursday 6-8pm
  • Christmas and February Break Training 8:30am-3pm on designated days
  • Midweek Seasons Pass

WMR Intro To Racing 6 Week Program - 2021/2022

Intro To Racing Program is a fun, non-competitive, non-travel ski race program for ALL MOUNTAIN SKIERS (ages 7-14) who are ready to be challenged by all types of terrain and snow conditions. They must be able to ski all terrain also be able to ride the lift alone. The program begins Saturday, January 8, 2022 and meets on Tuesdays from 6-8 pm and Saturdays from 9am-2pm and runs for 6 consecutive weeks. 

Race coaches will help your child develop the proper fundamental movements, skills and race tactics, and will introduce the students to gate training in a fun learning environment.

This program includes a 6- week program pass that is valid Tuesdays from 6-9 pm and Saturdays from 9am-4pm during the program. The program does not include lunch on Saturdays. If your child has a season pass, please email sara@westmountain.com to register for the program to receive $25 off. The price is $400 before 4/30, $425 before 9/30, $450 after 9/30. 

WMR Mogul Freestyle Development Program 2022

Registration for West Mountain’s Mogul Freestyle Development Program, specializing in the Olympic disciplines of mogul skiing and slopestyle skiing, opens Oct. 13, 2021. This 6-week program is designed for advanced skiers age 9 to 17, advance intermediate to expert level skiers only on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:30pm (dates below). The coaching staff, including 7x World Cup Mogul Freestyle Champion, John Witt, will teach mogul technique on an all-new dual mogul freestyle line. The groups will work on technique including turns, airs and speed. We will also work on some park slopestyle skill building. In its first year, the program will be conducted in a fun, non-competitive training environment. Freestyle program participants must will meet at the NW Base Area and must be booted up and ready to ski on snow by 5:25pm. Registration is limited.

Ages 9-17

Advanced Intermediate/Expert Skiers only

Program will meet on Tuesday's (dates and times below) at the NW Base Area

Tuesdays: Jan 25, Feb. 1, Feb. 8, Feb. 15, March 1 & March 8, 2022

5:30pm-7:30pm

Price is $400 (price includes a program pass that will be distributed on the first day of the program and is valid from 5-9pm on the day of the program)

*******WMR Code of Conduct--All athletes must adhere to WMR's Code of Conduct. Athletes who do not follow the Code may be removed from training, travel or possibly the team. If an athlete is removed from the team for a major Code of Conduct violation, a refund will not be given.

*******Volunteer Service -- All WMR academy and full program families are required to work two WMR full-day race events per family during the season. If families do not volunteer for two full-days of races during the season, we will issue you a bill for $200 at the end of the season. If a parent would like to serve on our race crew (10 or more races), you receive a full season pass. Please email sara@westmtn.net if you are interested in race crew. We also encourage all full program familiies to help with all the West Mountain School's fundraising events as WMS supports WMR with program scholarships, safety equipment and supplies that helps keep program fees more affordable for everyone. 

POST SEASON TRAVEL

Travel, coaching and support for USSA and USASA post-season travel must be provided by the parent at a rate per coach of $116 per day, $.55 per mile, cost of coaches’ hotel room and $20 per diem food allowance and arranged through and with the coach.

MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS PRIVLEGES

Race Building -Full Members are provided space in the race building to store a backpack during the season in the Race Building. The race building is for full member athletes only as space in the building is limited due to the growing number of athletes in the program.

Team Uniform--Academy and Full Club Members of WMR are provided a team jacket, if registered before April 30th, as part of their program fees, which are sponsored by Whiteman Chevrolet and other businesses. The team jackets are to be worn during training, competition and on the podium,  This gives our sponsors as well as our team great brand exposure.

**********Official Licenses -- WMR encourages parents of our alpine racers to be involved on every level of racing. We encourage parents to look into getting an official license so that you can be involved with our race events on the official level.
